 The late, Hon. Joseph M. Margiotta, was dedicated to the Uniondale Community. His efforts assisting community organizations within the area is notable. This organization is especially indebted to Joe for his assistance in its formation and early growth.
In recognition of what he has done for us, we dedicated our initial building acquisition at 800 Jerusalem Avenue to Monsignor John J. Byrne of St. Martha’s R.C. Church. Monsignor John J. Byrne, a respected and dedicated community servant was the officiating priest at the marriage of Hon. Joseph M. Margiotta’s to his surviving wife, Dorothy.

Community Service Memorial Scholarship Award
In Memory of Joseph M. Margiotta
Awarded to 
 The JJBCC awards a scholarship in the memory of Vergeil DiSalvatore. This beloved woman was also the grandmother of famed performing artist Alicia Keys.
Many of Vergeil's attributes are noteworthy, but she was outstanding in the following:
• Her many years of tireless DEVOTION to children.
• Her SUCCESS IN PREPARING parents and teachers for their positions to PTA.
• Her DEDICATION to the goals of ensuring that all children get the best
education possible.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of our community residents who knew her well.
